Materia Medica Series: Herbs & Herbal Actions for the Cardiovascular System
Date: Thursday, April 23, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
This monthly series is for the budding herbalist or individual who wants to go deeper into an understanding of medicinal plants and their uses. “Materia medica” refers to the body of knowledge about a therapeutic substance and has long been used in the field of herbal medicine. Each month we will explore 1) herbal actions for a specific body system, 2) herbs commonly used for that body system, 3) how to choose from among the many herbal options, and 4) how to use these herbs effectively. In April we will explore herbs and herbal actions for the cardiovascular system including a broad range of heart tonics, circulatory stimulants, and other herbs to modulate cholesterol and blood pressure.
Herbs 101 or prior experience using medicinal herbs is recommended, but not required.
