Glow Wine for Winter Nights

Glühwein is a traditional Christmastime beverage in northern European countries also known as mulled or spiced wine. Served hot, Glühwein is a warming beverage for cold nights and holiday gatherings. For an alcohol-free hot beverage, substitute apple juice or apple cider for the wine in the recipe below.

The recipe below serves four.

1 bottle red wine (dry to medium) (or 3-1/2 cups apple juice or apple cider for an alcohol-free beverage)
1 orange
1 lemon
1/4 - 1/2 cup sweetener (brown sugar, honey, etc.)
3-4 tbsp. Nectar Mulling Spice, Glow Wine Blend
1/4 cup Brandy (optional)
Extra orange or lemon slices (optional)
Cinnamon Sticks (optional)

Cut the orange and lemon in half. Cut one half of each into slices and juice the other half. Combine wine, orange and lemon juice, sweetener and mulling spices in a sauce pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and allow wine to simmer for approximately one hour. Stir in the Brandy (optional) just before serving. Strain into mugs and serve with a fresh slice of orange, lemon or garnish with a cinnamon stick. Cheers!

Warm wishes,
